Sparkling Toyboys and Free Books!

The 'new writing' website loveahappyending launches on 29th June and here at 'The Fairycake Penthouse Apartment,' there will be much excitement and popping of champagne corks before the watershed. I for one will be enjoying a jacuzzi full of champers and strawberries along with the apartment's resident toyboys (same old Weekday morning then?) But before you hate me - it's not all sparkling wines and seasonal berries - oh no - because I am a featured author on loveahappyending and will be hard at it with those keen, firm young men.

Fat Girls and The Fairy Godmother

So I may just have mentioned in passing that 'Fat Girls and Fairy Cakes,' is out in September and as fans (ok a fan) will be begging for my book signings and demanding a tour I need to be uber fabulous.
I can't possibly allow my public to see me because the doughnut and dipped flake diet has taken its toll. So I've worked out that if I live on leaves and water and sweat several vigorous workouts a day, I could lose at least 2 stone by September. However, there is a major flaw in my body masterplan - I'm too lazy to exercise and too greedy to cut down on wine or chocolate. Oh yes  - and I hate leaves!
So imagine my deep joy when my Fairy Godmother appeared and promised to wave her wand and transform me into a slim, stunner by twighlight.
Once upon a time, my best friend Lesley had been the delighted recipient of  a lovely gift from her sister in law and fairy godmother (Barbara) in the divine form of a photographic makeover. Barbara had intended to join Lesley on this shoot but as she was residing somewhere hot and glamorous
she suggested Lesley invite a friend instead.
Cue moi and Les in full Joan and Jackie Collins mode, sweeping into the hair, make-up and photographic studio on a hot June afternoon in downtown Manchester.
And it was an education -

Fat Girls and Fairy Cakes kits

Having taken several years to get my book written and then to publishing standard I thought it would never happen. Then a few weeks ago the fun started... I received the proofs and the publishing date and now my clever publishers Rickshaw have just sent my book to press reviewers in a gorgeous box along with a selection of fabulous Hummingbird fairy cakes. It's exciting and scary at the same time - I want everyone to read it - but some days I just worry no-one will like it. Here's hoping  everyone thinks the book is as delicious as  Hummingbird fairy cakes!
